AWeber offers four plans: Free, Lite, Plus, and Unlimited. The pricing has gotten more complex and expensive following a late 2024 price increase, and the Lite plan comes with restrictions that push users toward Plus.

Free Plan - $0
Who it’s for: Testing the platform, very small lists
What you get:
- Up to 500 subscribers
- 3,000 emails per month
- Email editor and 700+ templates
- Landing pages (1)
- Signup forms
- Basic reporting
- Chat and email support
What you don’t get:
- Phone support (Lite and above)
- More than 1 automation
- More than 1 list/segment
- AWeber branding removed
The free plan is functional but limited. Unlike Kit’s free tier (10,000 subscribers) or even MailerLite (500 with 12,000 emails), AWeber’s 500-subscriber limit means you’ll upgrade sooner.
Lite Plan - From $15/month
Who it’s for: Small businesses wanting basic email marketing
This is AWeber’s entry-level paid plan, but the restrictions are significant:
What you get:
- 10x subscriber volume in emails per month (e.g., 5,000 subscribers = 50,000 emails)
- Email editor and 700+ templates
- Landing pages (capped at 3)
- Email automations (capped at 3)
- Ecommerce tools (with 1% transaction fee)
- Basic reporting and segmentation
- Phone, email, and chat support
What you don’t get:
- More than 3 automations (need Plus)
- More than 3 landing pages (need Plus)
- Remove AWeber branding
- Advanced analytics
- Website tracking
- Split testing
The big catch: 3 automations is extremely limiting. A welcome sequence, an abandoned cart follow-up, and one promotional automation exhaust your limit. Most competitors offer unlimited automations on entry-level paid plans.
At $15/month for 500 subscribers, Lite is mid-range priced. At $60/month for 5,000 subscribers, it’s more expensive than MailerLite ($39) and similar to ActiveCampaign Starter ($79), both of which offer more features.
Plus Plan - From $30/month
Who it’s for: Growing businesses that need unlimited automation
What you get:
- 12x subscriber volume in emails per month (more sending capacity than Lite)
- Unlimited automations
- Unlimited landing pages
- Unlimited lists and segments
- Remove AWeber branding
- Advanced analytics and reporting
- Website tracking
- Split testing
- Priority phone, email, and chat support
- Ecommerce with 0.6% transaction fee (cheaper than Lite)
The jump from Lite to Plus roughly doubles the price, but the unlimited features make it the viable option for serious email marketing. At 10,000 subscribers, Plus costs $135/month vs Lite at $100/month - only $35 difference for unlimited automation.
Unlimited Plan - $899/month
Who it’s for: Enterprise-scale senders with very large lists
What you get:
- Unlimited subscribers (including unsubscribed addresses)
- 15x subscriber volume in emails per month
- All Plus features
- Everything unlocked
At $899/month, this is only for very large organizations. Most users will never need this tier.
Key Pricing Gotchas
Automatic upgrades: Exceeding your subscriber or send limit can trigger automatic tier upgrades. The pricing page notes you may be moved to a higher plan if you exceed limits.
Transaction fees on ecommerce: Lite charges 1% per transaction. Plus charges 0.6%. If you’re selling $10,000/month through AWeber, that’s $100/month in fees on Lite versus $60 on Plus. The Plus premium may be worth it for the fee savings alone.
Send limits: Lite allows 10x subscriber volume per month. At 5,000 subscribers, that’s 50,000 emails. That’s generous, but if you send more frequently, you’ll hit it.
How AWeber Pricing Compares
| Subscribers | AWeber Lite | MailerLite Growing | Kit Creator | ActiveCampaign Starter |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 500 | $15/mo | $10/mo | $39/mo | $19/mo |
| 1,000 | $25/mo | $15/mo | $39/mo | $19/mo |
| 2,500 | $35/mo | $25/mo | $59/mo | $39/mo |
| 5,000 | $60/mo | $39/mo | $89/mo | $79/mo |
| 10,000 | $100/mo | $73/mo | $139/mo | $189/mo |
AWeber Lite is more expensive than MailerLite at every tier and more expensive than ActiveCampaign at higher tiers. The only advantage AWeber offers over MailerLite is phone support and the template library.
My Recommendation
Use the free plan to test AWeber’s interface and see if it fits your workflow. The 500-subscriber limit gives you enough runway to evaluate the platform.
Skip Lite unless you’re certain you need only basic email marketing and will never exceed 3 automations. The restrictions make it frustrating to use.
Choose Plus if you’re committed to AWeber. The unlimited automations, landing pages, and branding removal justify the premium over Lite.
Consider MailerLite or Kit instead if the AWeber pricing feels high. Both offer more features at lower price points, and only AWeber offers phone support as a reason to choose it.
